My name is Sharan Tash, founder of The Wellness Tutors, LLC and Tash Fitness, LLC. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, Illinois. I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer practicing with special emphasis in exercise instruction for women and seniors. I offer in home or office exercise instruction and fitness training and I travel to you throughout the greater Chicago area: from the Illinois border to the north, to Wilmette, IL, Downers Grove to the west, and Chicago to the south. I hold certifications with the NASM as a Women's Fitness Specialist (WFS) and Senior Fitness Specialist (SFS). Specializing in fitness for women and seniors allows me to responsibly work with men and women who commonly present chronic health and joint disorders, remarkable weakness and poor flexibility, of all ages and body types, including younger, prenatal and postnatal, and older men and women. Using the Optimum Performance Training™ (OPT™) Model I teach each of my clients about good nutrition and share skills that help women and seniors maintain healthy bodyweight. I enjoy working with seniors and I understand well, through proper assessment, any current limitations, common medical conditions, exercise as it relates to natural aging as well as common obstacles and barriers to fitness training. I work with men and women alike to reduce risks for falling by exercising in the most effective, safe and progressive manner. I teach corrective exercise, cardiovascular conditioning and needs based exercise in both "one-on-one" personal training and small-group training formats.
Additionally I am a Bokwa® Certified Group Exercise Instructor and Zumba® Licensed Instructor. You may be familiar with Zumba® classes described as a collection of fitness routines that combine Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba® routines incorporate interval training—alternating fast and slow rhythms—and resistance training. Bokwa® is a group exercise class designed for people who may not feel coordinated while dancing or exercising in movement patterns. There is no counting steps or complicated choreography; once you know the step, you own it and can do it without following my personal choreography. My class participants draw letters and numbers with their feet while performing an energizing and addictive cardio workout routine. Moving together to today's most popular music, participants off all ages draw the Bokwa® L, 3, J, K and dozens of other steps.
My goal in establishing The Wellness Tutors, LLC is to provide a SAFE (Sizeless, Ageless, Fitness and Education) environment for clients of all ages and sizes to begin or continue their path to improved fitness and wellness. We believe in a back-to-basics approach to fitness with emphasis on physical functionality as our main focus. I will travel to a location within the greater Chicago area that works for you: in your home or another convenient place including assisted living, nursing homes or other long term care facilities. That means you don't have to drive anywhere or feel intimidated by others watching you, or clean up in a public place.
